hi im pretty new to the dsm world, and ive been looking around at all these forums. i currently own a 99 rs and a 99 gsx. the rs for delivery and the gsx for dd. i see all these forums for more horsepower, but i want to know, is there anything i can do to my rs that can improve the gas milage significantly? the gsx imma tune out, possibly 350+, but i want the rs to make the most out of each ounce of gas. i havnt read any forums about it, and i was wundering if it were possible to get it to 35+mpg with some modification? i want it to sip gas like it were tea. if you can help thanks in advance ^^

thats the point im trying to make, i want my RS, (not gs) to be my new delivery car, i just picked her up from the dealer i had a 92 paseo which got me around 40+ mpg and 25-30 just aint cutting it ^^ btw, my rs is for my job(delivery) and the gsx is just for fun. having that extra oomph in your step helps a bunch.

i dont think you will be able to increase it over what it comes with. Sometimes with turbo cars you can lean them out. But i doubt you can do it with a NA car. The only thing you can do is maybe improve on any emmision parts that might not be up to par if you are getting bad mileage.

Why an Eclipse for a "delivery" job?? You deliver pizzas or something man? LOL..just messin'!! Actually a Ford Focus would work pretty well for you too. They get awesome mileage like 35 mpg's plus.

that's tru, and yeah there's no real way that i've ever heard of to get better gas mileage than what the car came with. the only thing i can think of is if you put your car on a diet and make it lightweight, but even that i don't think will be worth it in the end

nissan tita nano 33hp like 50-60mpg and top speed of 60+.... of course it's kind of hard to get one here, since they're not even out in india yet.

Just for the record Ford lies about the MPG on the focus. My girlfriend bought a brand new 06 5 speed and neither of us driving have seen it over 31 and that was like once. in town she gets as bad as 28. Her sister has a 03 and it is the same story. they must figure 35mpg ignoring wind resistance, perfect temperature and driving downhill

Some things you could do:
1. keep up with the tune ups (big one)
2. cold air intake
3. header & exhaust kit
other then those i really cant think of anything else that would help
Whatkind of deliveries r u doing with an eclipse?

agreed. I also heard with turbo systems you get better gas mileage. And with the 420A motor you can bolt up either a Neon trans or... I don't rememeber the others but they will give you better gas mileage but you'll be slower.

I have an '08 Focus (with some miles) in my showroom that shows 35.5 mpg in the message center in the dash. I use them as demos sometimes too and a half a tank of gas gets me back and forth to work and a little runnin around all week long man. One of our drivers has a 600 cc scooter. It's bad-azz LOL.

You aren't going to get satisfying MPG results with an Eclipse no matter what. End of thread.

Who ever told you that bolting a turbo on a nt car gives better gas mileage is a moron. There is a reason you need to upgrade a fuel pump and injectors when you go TC, its beacuse you need to be able to supply more gas!!.

Wow..   I was able to hit about 32mpg with my GS that I had...   Best thing you can do is just do a tune up...   Best ive been able to get with a turbo'ed one was 29mpg..  And that was all interstate driving..
