I'm not sure if this has been brought up before but, damn is my outlander smooth and quite at 80mph. The thing just floats down the highway like 80 is nothing. Switching lanes and cruising down the highway was pretty comfortable. Anyone else bring it over 80 yet and felt out how it rides? I just had to post this since I was so impressed on the drive.

Oh yeah, I put 8 oz of that STP additive and I felt a different drive this morning. And yeah, I am always looking forward to the freeway drives. It's too easy to overspeed. Good thing the wife is there to remind me. And cornering is so much fun at 35-40mph. That's where I appreciate so much the precise handling of this vehicle. Body roll is way much less than my wife's 03 CR-V. So congrats to everyone who made their Outlander purchase. That very precise handling didn't happen out of the blue you know. That's where all the Rallying experience translate to good engineering and eventually better products, although that fact might not matter to some buyers.

I didnt want to push anything over 80 right now. The speed limit is 65. I am currently going through the application process to be a police officer. I had it at 80 for maybe a minute in a big pack of traffic and then slowed it down. Yea the turning is really nice. I take turns like an F1 car all the time. I went from driving a 95 eclipse gsx to this. I dont slow down much more around the turns with the outlander. I havent noticed too much body roll at all.

I have taken it around turns pretty aggressively and I was surprised at the composure our Outties had. It stayed on course, and I was confident in its abilities.
As for the highway, I haven't taken it over 80 yet. This car is great, how can I get a speeding ticket if it doesn't beg me to drive it fast!! :)

I do 140 km/h (87 mph) frequently on my daily commute, going with the highway traffic. It's nothing for the Outlander. I also take it way over the recommended speed on the on/off highway ramps and it corners very well without much body roll. As far as I'm concerned, the Outie delivers on the handling, driving comfort and acceleration. Happy driver!

Im glad all of us outlander owners drive like were in nascar in SUV's hahahaha

. Hopefully one day in the future I can test out higher speeds. I can only imagine now outlanders doing 100 passing everyone on the turnpike.

Theres tight twisties all over the place where I live. If you want to experience true glued to the road handling stick it in 4wd lock and manually shift to avoid the delay of the engine not being the right gear coming out of the corner. It rocks.

. Hopefully one day in the future when I dont have to worry about getting pulled I can join the rest of you guys in testing out higher speeds. I can only imagine now outlanders doing 100 passing everyone on the turnpike.
I thought the cops don't speed while off-duty and they are the first to obey the law.

We just came back from a long drive and mostly did highway speeds of 100-120Km/h and my wife said we seems to be running so slow. Getting that kind of comment from your wife just really shows how great the Outie is as a cruiser.
We also went to a bit of unsealed road driving and no complaints from the passengers including in the third row seats. Played with the AWD system and the Outie handled it so well. Can't wait to do more of the same in the future.
The way this engine's exhaust note is tuned, it always sounds like it's spinning slowly(rumbly sound) even above 3000rpm the exhaust note makes the vehicle sound like it's running slowly.

It should, it's on 6th gear, and RPMs hover at 1200 to 1300. That's only a few hundred RPMs above idle.(<- talking about cruising at high speeds)

Yeah, it's pretty smooth. Sometimes it gets away from me if I'm not using cruise control. Found myself going 95 the other day. Since no one was around me, I had no idea.
I'm pretty sure at 60mph/100kmh the engine is turning 1800rpm in 6th gear(3l engine). My Sienna is 1850rpm (3.3l, 230hp) in fifth at 60mph and there is almost no sound from the engine/exhaust at all. The outlander "rumbles" a bit at that speed which makes it feel like it's turning slower.

Speed limits in most of the roads I drive go only up to 55, and that's almost the same as what Mitsubishi recommends the optimum speed for crusing for the best fuel economy.

I got my 07 outlander up to 112mph and it felt great...That is until I wizzed past a state trooper. He made a u-turn but did not pull me over...Lucky I guess.

it's not luck, he couldn't have clocked you going in the opposite direction. If you slowed down after u-turn and he caught up with you he can't really prove anything.

Well, whatever the case, I'm glad I didnt get caught!

A cop can't clock you going the opposite direction? Thats false.

I think he meant by the speedometer, not by radar.

hahah after reading this thread....speeding :) :)
thats why i got a v1 detector, veil , and a laser jammer on my outie. i go 80-90 sometimes on the freeway for 29 miles in a 65 and my jammer save my butt like 4 times. i laugh when i pass a cop since they didnt get my speed.

Be carefull in some states jammers are illegal and in some cases you are better off getting that speeding ticket.

true i should be getting a ticket and illegal in some states. but hey, its the guys that engineered those things to be on the market. can't resists of buying it..lol
well i dont use the jammer to make it obvious. when it goes off, the jammer jams and when i get close up about 500 feet , i turn it off so he can get the speed. I time myself that i have 5 seconds to slow down and he didnt notice a thing.

They can still do a visual and pull you over. Better hope all that stuff isnt hanging in plain sight.
