Well I can't seem to find any pics right now, but its not hard to picture what it would look like, I would go to the mitsu site and check everything that there is to offer on this car. You wont be disapointed, oh by the way, if you want to tow up to 3500 lbs make sure you get the 4wd models (LS, XLS).

Have you checked the Mitsubishi website? There's a nice photo of the hitch in the Accessories tab of the "Trims and Accessories" page for the Outlander.

What's your market? Are you in the US, Europe, or Australia?

from the picture above, it looks as though it will open fine. Dont really see why mitsu would design something that wouldnt work

ahhh, I see. Then, I guess you'll have to remove the hitch from the reciever when not in use.
Or, conversly, you could replace the stock hitch with an aftermarket one. One that comes out straight instead of out, and up.

Either take out the hitch before you open your tail gate or like soundcolor said, buy a straight hitch. I dont see the need to raise your hitch up that high unless your hauling a really tall trailer. Most trailers won't be affected if they are slightly pitched forward.
