Hi all,

Just wanted to see if anyone knew if the OEM Air filter is the same dimensions as the Lancer OEM Air box? I want to buy a replacement air filter (like K&N, HKS or Apexi)

My main reasons for getting a better air filter is, more HP (what little is given), and improved MPG (as long as your not heavy on the foot). Also, you buy one replacement filter that lasts almost a lifetime saving you on having to pay each and every other oil change on your throw away filter.

Here is a test showing the results of each filter, and really wanted the Apexi filter but they only make them for Lancers and hi performance cars.

anyone have comments?

You can run the part numbers and compare.

But I've read that
the 2008 Lancer and 2007+ Outlander have the same air box/filter.
("Works" has a high performance filter for the Outlander.)

The position
of the intake system seems slightly different though...
Did you see the Weapon R intake that another Outlander owner installed?
Check the previous posts...

Good luck!

i have '07 outlander xls and '08 lancer gts.

i have the same WORKS air filter in both.

they are pricey but................

i picked up 2 mpg crusing freeway @ 75 mph with the lancer.

have not "cruised" the outty enough yet to notice a mpg gain

both felt more low end grunt with the high flow filter.
could really notice it on the lancer with the 5 speed manual and tiny motor !

Hey "07outty",
Did you ask WORKS if any more products will be listed for the 07+ Outlander?
Maybe an exhaust or ECU/Tuning Reflash?

Here's the link for the air filter.

Take care,

......WORKS has no other perf. stuff for the outlander.

Aww...
I wish that WORKS would have at least made an exhaust package for the Outlander.

I also forgot to ask,
how does your Outlander engine sound with the new hi-perf air filter?
Hope it sounds good!

Thanks!

Thanks but...
What about during wide open throttle (WOT)?

No difference in engine sound?

Aloha!

Hi.. I just ordered one on Friday.  Any difference on performance wise?  Any gains on stepping on the gas or climbing up hill on the freeeway?  The filter was pretty pricey after shipping and tax.  Too bad K&N doesn't have one for the newer outtie yet.  Hope to hear some feeback on this WORKS filter.

Hey "WillowPeak",

Thanks for ordering the Works filter,
maybe you could give us a review after you've finished the install?

I'm still looking for performance muffler too.
Any other parts you are willing to mention that were installed on your Outlander?

Thank you,
E

Which Outlander do you have?  I have an SE with the 2.4l 4 banger.  Is this the same engine/filter that you have?

Outtie 3.0L V6 XLS.  Call WORKS @  415.226.2500 talk to Bill.  He''s a cool guy to talk to.  They provide good technical information.

Here''s the 411 on the Works filter.  I replace the stock filter with a Works High performance one.  Went onto the freeway and it feels better on pickup speed, and got the torque on it.  I watched the RPM go higher when I gas alittle.  Works filter is better air flow and has a stronger acceleration.  Climbing on an uphill freeway.. It''s good... No noise level increase.

Note, the filter is blue, and the quality of the filter is excellent.  (heavier then the factory air filter).
