Hey, I'm a new member!!! yay~*
Anywayz...I have a 98 Eclipse Spyder GST and I've just installed the Injen Intake(with after market BOV version) and HKS SSQV Blowoff Valve...
My 'Check Engine' light was up and I went to the dealer and turn it off...it was the emission problem by the error code...nothing was wrong...
And few days later, which is today, 'Check Engine' light is up again!!!
I'm gussing since HKS SSQV Blowoff Valve doesn't have recirculation to intake, rich signals are sending to the stock air sensor and cause the problem...
Do you guys know how to avoid this problem?
I don't wanna get the recirculation kit because I wanna keep this sound...:)
Thanks yo...
Hey all...
Thanks for informations...but I already decide to get a Injen Intake pipe for Stock BOV and get Recirculation Kit on my HKS SSQV...:)
A lot of people told me that is better for perform also and with Injen or especially A'pexi Air Filter...the BOV sound will be still good...:)
Thanks...^^
venting the blow off valve to the atmosphere will actually cause a loss of performance, as your missing the additional spooling you will get when the boost is dumped back upstream of the impeller.
I personally think its a rediculous thing to do, just to "sound cool" (which is totally subjective, because anytime i hear something like that, I laugh hysterically).
No offense to anyone; thats just my opinion on the noise.
I agree with you Manybrews...:)
Well...that I think you are wrong whitegsx...
Recirculated Air goes thru intercooler again also.
Performance are not same...we've tested with SpeedSouth...
If you just look at your boost gauge...you can tell your boost will go down more after 6500RPM on same setting if you don't recirculate.
Unless you have something like HKS VPC...A'pexi SAFC...but we are talking about on stock car here...and + even if you have these...on performance wise...recirculating is better...these units just bring down your fuel flow to match your air flow by ratio so car won't run rich and have no problem...but if you recirculate, you get higher air flow and fuel that matches to the air flow...thats why if you don't have units and don't recirculate...you get the problems...you get lower air flow cuz of lose but getting high fuel flow cuz stock computer doesn't cut the lose of air...make your car run rich...end up boost down on high rpm...+ backfire...lolz
Thats why HKS SSQV comes out open but you can get recirculation kit BUT Type II(good for 3.0bar of boost<=43PSI>, 800+HP) comes out with built in recirculation kit...cuz more HP and Boost you have more lose...if you don't recirculate...even HKS recomanded to get recirculation kit on Eclipse Turbo + Talon.
And for sound matter...I don't really care...but turbo intakes with A'pexi or Injen Filters' blowoff sounds are pretty good and loud also. I have SSQV and i had it open for a while but had problems so got recirculation kit...on low boost...you can hear 'open' better but on high boost high RPM...the sound was 'bout the same...:)
Thanks.
