hollow out catalytic converter

Hey is their anyway that i can clean out my catalytic converter on my '96 eclipse rs even though their is ann O2 sensor behind it? if i can, would it cause any other problems? thanks

Well you can hollow it out though it won't pass emissions that way. But if that isn't a worry for you then I'd suggest drilling a hole in the bottom of it using a coathanger to break everything up in there and pull it out the hole you drilled then get a high temp plug and stick it in the hole.

I'd like to reiterate that it is NOT a legal thing to do though.

Just buy a high flow cat it is alot easier to install and if you have to check emissions you can just pop the old cat on.

I hollowed out the cat on my spyder and now my engine light is giong off because of the O2 sensor I have california emissions on mine though i got 2 cats.....dont know if that will happen to you

No, i live in iowa so emissions is not a problem. i just want to make sure that it wont screw with the computer or anything since the 02 sensor will detect that somthing is wrong

allthe o2 sensor behind the cat does is tell the computer that air is being cleaned through the cat, and if its not you will get a check engine light. Why do you want to hollow it out. If its just for like 2 hp dont waste your time. If you're going to anyway tho then buy a straitpipe, and unscrew that 02 sensor and zip tie it somehwere in the fresh air so u dont get a CEL
