Hey everyone, how much would it cost me to have the motor rebuilt in my 93 Eclipse it has the 4g63, I want a little more power but I dont to go nuts it is my DD. I dont have mad money to do this but I do want it done right. Any places in my area I could take it to, I live right outside of Philly in PA. Thanks in advance everyone.

anywhere from $1,000-$10,000 depending on parts and labor costs.

Stock rebuild expect 1500-2500 in parts and labor. Try to contac conceptillusions.com, their in pa and do extensive motor work.

if you are only looking for more power just strap a turbo onto it, the 4g63 can take up to 13lbs on stock internals.

the internals can handle ALOT more than that. its the fuel system that maxes out first.

i thought the block could only handle up to 13 lbs, then after you bore/forge it you were good up to like 23 lbs on stock head...

You can get a used non turbo jdm engine off ebay for like $500.00. I know its not a rebuild, but it will have low miles and wont go too deep into your pocket.
Jnz tuning, they do it all, (215) 997-6850 ask for josh or eric. They are located in Lansdale, maybe 15 min from norristown.

No the block is fine for high boost. I think you could at least go up to 20psi without a problem. The first problem with high boost comes in around 15 psi when the stock turbo (t25) starts to become inefficient, then the next thing like eclipsed4u said is the fuel system (hitting fuel cut) but the bottom end can handle far more.

well going back to the topic. I know a place where you can get the full rebuild kit for $215. Not totally sure how much a place will charge to do it though. But if you can find a place than i can show your where to get this...unless you find the kit cheaper that is

Could I get a stock rebuild and a turbo put in for 2500? The motor in it now is pretty shot its smoking all the time now and it seems to be getting worse, but the rest of the car is Mint except for the rims wich I am gonna replace anyway so I aint gonna get rid of the car if I went out and bought another car for 2500 it would probably be crap so I might as well just put that money into this one, plus I love her too so I dont want to part. Oh well I will just shop around for a place to rebuild her. Thanks for all the help everyone and I will keep everyone posted on the progress I make with her.

Oh I forgot to ask, the last couple times I have checked my oil it has seemed really watery its not thick at all, it kinda smells like there is gas in it but I cant really tell. Would gas in the oil make it thinner? And if so I know it cant be good to have gas in your oil?? Oh well just another reason to get the motor rebuilt, the more reasons I find the more I can justify putting out all that money to the wife...LoL I still cant belive she isnt giving me a bunch of crap about it already, she is actually the one who brought it up the other day. I almost passed out when she said hey babe how much would it cost you to get your motor rebuilt then I told her like 2500 she said why dont you do that....I had to do a double take there for a minute and clean out my ears. So looks like I will be def. doing it around the end of June....cant wait baby!!!!

If your smelling gas in your oil sounds like you've got some blow by.

I doubt there's gas in your oil, gas can smell like that. I'd say rebuild would be fine, but you're probably gona do the mounts, thus removing the engine. why not just drop a new one in? probably cheaper too.

if its smoking then you may just have a blown head gasket

Would a blown head gasket make the car run like ****, it runs really ruff and it has no power whats so ever
