how to tell if my motor block is correct.

hey guys,  i have a 6bolt 92 awd turbo talon.    i got it with a broke timing belt and bent valves.   the guy before had dissassembled the head some.    i got the car in pieces and i got a new head and installed it just fine.  when i went to install the valve cover i noticed something alarming!   my valve cover had hyundai stamped in huge orange letters!    after a little research it appears the hyundai sonata had a near identical motor except with weaker internals.     i do not believe it was a turbo car.
 
so my question of the day.... how do i find out if someone had perhaps just installed a new head or valve cover off a sonota or swapped the WHOLE motor?     the car had less than 100k on the clock.     i have no idea how to tell.

I can say, man, with almost 100% certainty, its just a Hyundai valve cover. If you want to throw some pics up Im sure one of us will point out how you would know that.

if you have the hyundai motor it will be a 1.8L DOHC,4G67, the 2.0 is a 4g63, you can try to see it on the front of the block somewhere near the dipstick tube is a flat machined spot with the numbers stamped,
my 93 talon had a 6 bolt 4g67 1.8L motor and they dont take well to alot of boost.

Im not sure how one could mistake those two engines for one another... then again I havent seen too many 1.8s... I thought they were SOHC? I thought the 4g67 looked more like the top of a 420a...

well this is my first import to ever even see under the hood of.    so i dont know what the heck im lookin at.    im give me a small block and id be great.   however im wanting this as my project car to see what i can do with it.  i have a friend with a stock 2007 mustang gt  im gunning for.   think i can hang with him?

the 4g37 is SOHC 1.8L, 4g67 is a DOHC 1.8L 6 bolt that is identical to a 4g63 other than a smaller bore.
here is the 1.8L 4g67 in my one talon after it got blown up., youd never know the difference, and it had the 1.8L head on it.
ive seen more than one JDM "2.0" come in and be a 1.8L NT motor

The Hyundai valve cover is actually thicker than the Mitsu cover and thats why its commonly put on 4g63's.
I believe Silvercoupe97 has a Hyundai valve cover.

Holy ****, 55.. they do look rather similar... and... well... ****, I guess maybe I should make MY official drunk post right now... though everything looks spelle d right. Im goin to bed... But they do look the same though.

thanks for the help guys,,, i checked my block number and its a 4g63 thank god.  looks like ill be just fine!
