He i live in iowa and i dont have a lot of mechanics that work on imports around here so i need some help. I bought a 95 eclipse gsx for 3k the only problem was it is an auto, i know some people who said that would help with the switch over to stick so i am not worried about that but when i drive it now as soon as i get to 4k rpm the turbo is whining horibbly. When i bought the car the guy had taken out the stock computer and put an aftermarket one in, i dont know what kind, bonez air intake and evo III turbo but left the exhaust stock, So my question is do you think that my turbo is naded and if so would and HKS t78 turbo be possible, or do you think i need to look into replacing the computer or exhaust first? please help me

Nothing electrical will make a turbo "whine". If you're sure the noise is from the turbo, not the hoses and pipes going to it, when it's cool, take off the inlet hose and see how much the shaft wiggles by hand. If it feels pretty loose, then get ready to buy a turbo

is the turbo "whyning" or is it "whisteling?" once you add an intake you will hear the turbo and BOV much louder. if it is whyning i'd take it off and check it for shaft play. also if you want to run a t78 on that car i hope you have very very deep pockets. an engine and suporting setup for a t78 on that car will run you close to 20 grand.
