Anyone got an idea where the info for mileage is held in an instrument cluster for the 3G Eclipse? I busted mine all to hell trying to put gauge faces in and now need to replace it... but the new one could say like a billion miles or something... whereas Ive got 71000 real miles, can I switch out like... something to make it right?

i believe that the readout is based on the ECU...not the actual cluster. i was going to buy a second cluster to try to get around emission testing when i was going to boost my car...but i was told that it wouldnt work that way.

I thought so, and if admin agrees, its more than likely right... excellent. Thread closed, lol.

you better get that fixed or the car will come up on carfax and have a bunch of flags as being rolled back, because they take it down in the inspection. So it is a problem you better fix

Any ideas on a fix for it, TE? I mean, either way... I dont really ever plan on selling it... at least not in 'CAR' form... if Im gonna be getting rid of it, it will be because it cant possibly ever run again.

im not sure. I know there has to be a way to adjust it so that it is at least close to what you had it at before. Did you take down the mileage from the other one?

Thats the funny thing. Noone knows the ACTUAL mileage of the motor. Its a new(er) motor than the car is. Guessing around 40000Miles according to Mitsus guess. The BODY has around 87K on it... and like I say, the odo. has got 27K... Numbers, numbers, numbers... lol

it doesnt matter what is on the motor. Your car is supposed to go by what the body has on it. and thats it. So the 87k # is what it should be

The question remains... on how it is accomplished. Im debating ripping guts out of my old one... but that sounds like a terrible idea.
