Hi,

just want to confirm if the driver door unlocking (when you touch the handle) can be programmed to unlock all doors on an XLS without Nav ?  In the manual it seems to say you can ...but guess what my wonderfull dealer told me this morning that it cannot be done... I have some real doubt on that, but I could be wrong.

I will have also to call Mistubishi Canada for the paint on my bumper cracking, the service manager saw it and agreed it is not normal, he cannot see any impact (no scratch whatsover...bumper looks new and car has 4000km) ...but he still tell me it is normal for plastic if there was an impact... he doesnt want to make a claim to Mitsubishi and wants me to share cost with him to repaint.....well no way I am going to do that!

So far I love the car, but the dealership experience is really not enjoyable at all....

My US XLS with Nav can change to where you touch the door handle it unlocks all the doors. I know you dont have Nav, but its in the options menu where you can make a decent amount of changes. Like blinker and rear wiper settings.

Changing the doors to all unlock when touching the handle was one of the first changes I made, love it.

great tx!  It confirms what I thought...and the dealer has no $#%# clue of what can be done with their product...when you know more about the car then the guy repairing it...its not a good sign....

well if someone can get it done with the nav....it means the option is there in the CPU somewhere,  it just means that for us (unlucky or poor guys without nav) we need to go to the dealer to get it done....but just dont go to mine! ;)

I guess all of the Navi options can be done manually but it could be some are not documented in the manual. I have the Navi and I did set for all doors to unlock with FASTKey.

I did it on my XLS without Nav.

At first, the tech was not sure that it can be done.  I saw in the user manual that it can be done so I show him the page

He plugs the computer, do some clicks and finds the right option.

Did it in 5 minutes and said that I was the first to ask for it.

Yea, I did that too on my outie w/ nav, it makes much more sense to open all doors.
If you have the MMCS, hit the SET button (bottom left corner, above OPEN) and the select EQUIPMENT (right side of screen) and then POWER DOOR LOCKS (I think) and scroll down until you find it. There is a lot of other stuff you can set, I spent like 20 minutes going through it once.

just to let you know....it can be done for people without NAV, but the dealer need to do it.  It was confirmed to me today by Mitsubishi Canada.

I was very pleased by the Mitsubishi Canada call, the guy was really friendly and very helpfull.  He told me my paint would be fixed by my dealer next time I go and that he can provide them instructions on how to program the door unlocking.

I am still not pleased by the dealer service, but at least the Mitsubishi Canada service is really good.

tx everyone!

Lucky for you last time I call Mitsubishi Canada about something they didn't know what I was talking about Lucky for me My dealer is more knowledgeable then Mitsubishi service line at least so far. I think you Bought your XLS from Méga Mitsubishi In hull ? I went there To get mine at first and after 2 days of talking with the sales guy and the owner there I end up going to Bank street Mitsubishi and got 5000$ lest on my purchase price. My mother In law as a 07 eclipse spider and she as to deal with the service at méga an she say that the service is really bad.

I had the same issue...07 outie without the Nav system and I wanted the keyfob to unlock all the doors.  I went to the dealership and told them the manual said it can be done by reprogramming the remote.  They said they would have to research how to do it.  Went back two weeks later and they said they had figured out how to do it.  After working on it for an hour they said it was taken care of...and they tried to charge me for an hour of labor ($85)!  I told them I absolutely would not pay for having a simple remote programming change done that can be done by any owner who has the Nav system.  They waived the charge, but I was seriously pissed.  Bottom line, it can be done, but don't let the dealer screw you on something that can be easily adjusted and should be done as a courtesy by the dealership.  I can't believe Mitsubishi didn't set the default to unlock all doors in the first place...damn inconvenient to have it only unlock the fronts (especially if you have small kids that you are carrying to the car).

Which page of the manual does it say this can be done?  Perhaps I'm blind, but cant seem to find it!  I want to get this done at my dealer, who have previously said it cannot be done - want to get some ammunition together to get them to pull their finger out.  I'll refer them to this thread also....

Thanks!!

I don't know the exact page because my manual is in french.

For me it's page 3-23 in a remark. If I translate, it will be:

"Configurations can be modify making all doors and hatch unlocking with F.A.S.T. key."

or something like that...

Thanks Bob.  I think I'll just point them at this thread and make them pursue it.

Seems a bit silly these dealers are not aware it can be done - but isn't that always the way these days with everything?  I never phone any tech service departments about anything - always a better answer to be found on a relevant forum these days!
