All right, recently had to replace the ignition cylinder/lock in the steering column to my 96 3000GT SL. I didn't bother asking if it would be possible to replace it to work with the original keys I already have, and as such, now have two separate keys, one for doors/hatch, and one for the ignition.

The thing is, with the new keys that I received, there was also a small aluminum tag on the key ring with a four-digit number/code. I need to replace both my door hands/locks, and might as well do the hatch at the same time. So my question is, does that four-digit code represent the key/lock pattern? As in, with that number/code, could I order the remaining locks for that set that work with the ignition keys I already have? Would be nice if I could, then I wouldn't have to pay a locksmith to set everything to one key pattern...

Thanks for your time.

What's the answer?  Share it with us because this really isn't a car specific problem

The four digit number is indeed the key/lock code. When ordering locks through a dealership, give them the four-digit code to receive locks which hold the same key fitting. If looking for the original key/lock sets that fit your car, it can be found by giving them your car's VIN.
