Everything you need to know:
I = 1
V = 5
X = 10
C = 100
M = 1000
Now, say you have the number 4. It is not represented as IIII, it is represented as IV, the I before the V means minus. So its like a mid point. Thats why the 9 is represented as IX, and not VIIII, get it?
