Hello. I've got a 2003 Eclipse GS and have noticed the AC makes a clunking noise on occassion when it turns on. It also drastically drains my rpms. Today, I was sitting at a stoplight and my car shuddered, so I turned off the AC and it stalled out. The engine would turn over, but stall immediately. I had to rev the engine ALOT to keep the RPMs up enough to get to a safe location and as soon as I stopped, it stalled out. I left it sitting for an hour or so and was able to get it cranked, keep it running and idling, however, as soon as the ac was turned on, the rpms dropped and it nearly died again. Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks!

I am not very savy with vehicles. I took it to a mechanic and all they could tell me so far is that the idle needed to be reset, but they couldn't tell me why.

i have somewhat of the same problem in my 99 GS. my rpms rest at about 900-950 normally. but when i turn the AC on they drop to about 400-500 and begins to rumble and shake the car. also from an idle when i hit the gas somewhat moderately it shakes the car before the rpms go up... wha it SOUNDS like is bad plugs but i just changed them about 3 weeks ago.

B/c they cant fuiger it out either and the backyard mechanic says when the car is acting funny reset the ecu to see if it fixes its self.
