How hard is it to install a mbc. and how reliable are they. I want to get one to add just like 2-3 psi but a few people said they area cheap way to get hp and can cause major damage if they malfunction.

The brand names aren't that big, my friend owns his own whole sale business and he dosn't even have a big name brand one, and there isn't that much of a difference from a mbc and a electronic the difference is though that you adjusted electronically instead of you getting out of the car and adjusting it and there might be other stuff but it's really not worth the money.

Some EBC's are known to spike, where as MBCs dont. I'd go with a manual boost controller. I'd recommend the dejon tool mbc.

a good ebc like the greddy profec b is a very reliable boost controller and wont allow spike. manual boost controllers can spike. however, if you have a reliable boost guage ( and u need one with any boost controller) you can monitor any spike and a manual boost controller will work fine. in my opinion a manual boost controller is reliable enough, the ebc's are just too expensive. i use the turbo xs high performance one, it has 2 adjustment knobs, course and fine tuning, and i havnt had any problems with it. it was about $80

Hallman makes good mbc's along with others. The biggest differance between a manual and an electronic are that the electronics aren't as reliable at higher boost levels. Also you should never get a boost controller of any kind without being able to monitor the levels, so a guage should be installed before or at the same time. Hallman also makes a kit so you can actually adjust the levels from inside the car. Some other companies make mbc's that have an electronic two position switch that allows you to switch between two preadjusted levels without any messing around. When I get one this is probably the setup I would go with.

If you don't want to fork out money for those 3 gauge A-pillar sets, you can make one out of ur stock A-pillar cover, piping, and some liquid plastic.

I reccomend using a Apex-i or HKS boost controller. They are the only two brands that i use on my car

apex and HK$ are overpriced/overrated

When I am looking at mbc what should I be looking for? like what should they be made of? what about ball and spring should they be brass or what. I want a mbc bad but am only planning on running 12psi. Any one have a guess at how much hp I got and how much it would be at 12 psi

1. why do you ony want to run 12 psi
2. if thats all the bosot you wana run you dont need a boost controller, the stock stuff will keep it around 12psi

if you are only running 14psi then you do not need to upgrade your fuel system

and you can guess all day about what hp you have, or you can put it on a dyno, or take it to the track to find out for sure. to many people like to guess and they guess wrong most of the time.
