In late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research. I'm reporting absolute stats like "times in the shop" that will make the differences between cars much clearer. Relative ratings obscure too much--how large is the difference between "better than average" and "worse than average"? I’ll also be updating results four times a year, so there will be information on new models sooner.
I'd like to include the Lancer in this research, and could potentially have initial results for the new Lancer in 4-6 months, but need more people to sign up to help out first.
To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.

Need more owners to participate before I can provide reliability info on the Lancer.

Results for nearly 100 other models in August. I'd like to include the Lancer in future results, but this will depend on how soon enough owners sign up to help out.

If five more owners of the 2008 signed up to help out, I could start collecting data on the new Lancer. Also getting closer to the minimum sample size with other model years.

Just need a few more 2008s to get started.
Next month's results will include one 2008 model, so quick results are possible when enough people participate.

And now 22. Still need more, of course, but good for a 2008.

Mitsubishi Lancer reliability research On a side note, I was at the Detroit show for the Ralliart intro. With 235 horsepower, AWD, livable suspension tuning, and a price in the mid-20s, I think it will hit the sweet spot. Very much looking forward to driving one.

Make that 34. Good, but as always a larger sample size would be better.

Not enough responses yet to include the Lancer in the May results.
If you've signed up to participate but haven't yet responded to the survey (via a link in the email you received), please do. And if you haven't signed up yet, I hope you'll consider doing so.
Inclusion in August seems almost certain, but I'd really like to have a result in May.

Thanks to people here, the 2008 Outlander will be in this month's results after all. A nice surprise. There will be an asterisk, though, for marginal sample size.
I'd like to get rid of that asterisk and include additional model years in future updates.

We''re currently five responses short of the minimum for a full result for the 2008 in August. Many days left in July, so we should get there.
For other model years, we still need more people signed up to participate to include them in the survey.

Still three responses shortso those signed up will be getting a special email to try to get us over the top.
For next time around, a few more participants would certainly help:

MKaresh has more hits than my posting on how to get rid of wind noise by using the air defuser.
i guess everyone wants to be heard

Two possibilities:
1. Not everyone has the problem you solve
2. Your thread needs a bump
I''ll seek it out...
We did end up two responses short of the minimum, so the result will be asterisked. Hopefully we''ll have enough additional participants to get rid of that asterisk the next time around, in November.

We got one more responseso we ended up a single response short of the minimum.
The posted result for the 2008 Lancer: a better than average repair rate.
With more participants, we could get rid of that asterisk, and have a more precise result.
