First off no need for the caps lock, there isnt really a lot you can do for more horse power. You can get a set of 93-94 turbo cams, pull out the balance shafts and hack the air box and get a k&n filter. That is probably the cheapest/easiest way to get more horse power.

right off if you look under your intake theres this black box that is stupid who knows what it does but restrict air..a few screws and you can feel an improvement and its FREE
umm you can clean out your throttle body but dont do what i did and spray ANY SENSOR with throttle body cleaner..use sensor cleaner

yup, the old cut the box, take a wizzer and cut a big ol' square in that air can, and the k&n filter makes a difference... they are like 50 bucks tho... in these cars, there is realy no need for a new intake pipe, the plastic one in there is smoothe on the inside and is better insulated that an aftermarket metal one, and a big gain is made if u get a maf translator and a GM maf unit, there is virtualy no restriction with those, it will cost around 150 to 200 tho.... lets see, theres realy not alot of options, if you dont want to work on the motor... uve only got two options, intake and exhaust... im in the same boat as u, it sucks i know... i plan on an engine rebuild and the head machined out for bigger valves and larger cams... itle be around 2 grand for all that i think, i can do the rebuild myself but the heads can get expensive

If your gonna build a n/a engine you should use a 2gen 4g63 head, I have done a lot of research abt this and the 1gen ports are overkill. And running a gm maf on a n/a car is just pointless and a waste of money. Your talking abt 200 for the translator and $50.00 for the maf and tuning would be a bitch.

You could spend about 2000 bucks on a 5.0 mustang and double your horsepower.

Should I even ask why he would want to do that?

I would assume so the car would be a tad quick

yea man the problem is ur non-turbo car was never made to handle high horsepower... so anything you do really is just make small improvements

Do you have any idea what would be involved w/ dropping a 5.0 mustang engine in an eclipse? Totally not worth it.

he was not suggestion a swap. he was simply saying that a 5.0 stang would cost NOTHING and they are already quick and parts are dirt cheap and easy to get. Compaired to making an Eclipse fast DSM or not

... A 2gT has the same power.

The fox body mustangs are sooo over-rated its not even funny. Everyone that has one think its the fastest thing on the street. Its annoying!

I agree lets see a build diary dude!
5.0 Mustang = 220hp... sound familiar? Everyone has seen fox bodys on the drag strip all juiced up. And they twist the living **** out of the subframe... wow what a great piece of engineering. May I add.... has anyone seen fox body''s do well around a circuit or an auto x track? Errr.. no.

The funny thing is I never had any 4 cyl car that could keep up with mine and it wasnt that hopped up, probably around 330 hp to the ground naturally aspirated based on my time slips and weight. And I had less then 5000 bucks in the mustang, parts and all. So yes, the cheapest way to go fast is to get rid of the eclipse and get a mustang. Or just spend thousands trying to get as fast as one, whatever. It was meant as a joke anyways, I got rid of my mustang and got an eclipse because its cheap and I needed a beater that got good mileage for driving to work, but a performance vehicle it is not.
The reason you see 5.0s with the body flexing is when you put 500 hp in a frame made for 225. its a no brainer, but the problem is easily handled with parts you can get practically anywhere. And if you think a turbo eclipse is bad, just imagine what a turbo v8 would do for you.

Micheal, what kinda times were you runnin in the stang. Guessing by your hp i would wager a guess in the 12''s

This could go on and on it really just depends what your goals are for each car. If you want to go fast in a straight line and get crappy mpg your gonna pick a rustang, if you want a combo of handling, power and mpg your gonna pick the eclipse.
I hear abt this all the time since I work at a ford dealer and everyone there have mustangs and I''m the odd ball b/c I had an awd eclipse.

i have the fp3575 but its sitting in my room bc i need a frontmount first. so its sitting. but if i sell it for what i bought it for i can get a pretty much brand new gt4294 turbo. so well see whats up with that. ill snap some pics tomorrow when i get my camera back from work.

I only ran it a few different nights. The best I ever got at the track was 13.0 something but I think it was 106 mph or so. That was with street tires though. I think the car had mid 12s in it easy. It was a stock 5.0 bottom end with some ported 289 heads, F303 cam and trick flow intake. 2.5 inch exhaust with X and 3.90 gears. Nothing fancy, but no matter what you did to it, the thing just got faster. I''d love to get another one but I am at the stage in life that I am shopping for mini-vans instead for all my hungry children. LOL.
I do have a 4 cyl that will outrun any car I''ve ever had, but thats my motorcycle. ZRX1100. that thing is sweet.
