Ok, so, before my test drive tomorrow, i need some advice before i make my final decision..
I am almost 16, and i'm going in for my license test soon. I am planning on getting a stock 02' LAncer OZ rally, is there any better cars out there that will give me more bang for my buck, and also it can be any car, i don't have a favorite make, i just REALLY like the lancer OZ, but i have a doubts, so i just want to check with some of you smart guys out there.
Thank you, very much!

How much do you have to spend? With that in mind, i can tell you exactly whats out there.
Around 10k, i can find you a fully built 300+hp Eclipse GSX. That means you get a brand new race motor that is a lot stronger than stock. New transmission, new clutch, and most importantly, all wheel drive!

ok, i don't really like the looks of a gsx, but if you could find me a link to the car that is around Seattle, WA. that would be great! what year could i find a car like that, are they reliable, good handling, speed, acceleration??

You dont find the car below at all attractive? Let me know your Zip, and i will get lookin'!
These are 95-99. The ones with the built motor and transmission are very reliable. If they are on the stock motor and transmission they tend to be pretty unrealiable. They handle awesome actually. Because they are all wheel drive you have no traction issues, and they have insane grip. Think of them as baby EVO's. They have the same engine pretty much, and they are all wheel drive too. The only difference is the electronics. The speed is pretty awesome, depending on the mods. Acceleration is also depending on the mods. However, the acceleration on the GSX in the stock form is pretty awesome. I mean, you have 220hp stock, and with 50 bucks you can make that about 245-250 at the crank. Even stock it will make ground beef out of the Lancer.
Once you drive a front wheel drive car for a while, then switch to all wheel drive, you will NEVER want to go back. Also its the same thing with Automatic Vs Manual transmission. Once you can drive a manual, the only time you will want to go back is if you lose a leg! (well, some people with 900hp cars dont like a stick because the high pressure clutches are really stiff)
So, a LOT more fun than a Lancer : )

you got me a little interested :) they are ok, any good looking body kits?
my zip is 98038, and 98108 either or.

Bodykits are an extremely bad idea. Most of us (pretty much all lol) are performance oriented. We extremely disslike bodykits.
Let me tell you why. Most bodykits cost a little to begin with, then the installation doubles the cost of the bodykit. Then theres paint, that tripples it. Then when you finally have it all done, you have cops watching your ass. Also, fiberglass is pretty fragile. The fiberglass coating can crack just from wind resistance (trust me, i had a car with a bodykit, look in my gallary. I will never do it again). If you hit a tiny tiny little bump, it will crack and get huge, even if you get a tiny little road stone chip, same thing. And do fix this, is pretty much the entire cost of the bodykit, installation, and paint. Because you have to do it all over again. What im getting across, is that its a VERY bad idea, and a waste of money.
GSXs are performance cars, if you are the bodykit kinda guy, you need to be driving a Honda : )
How far would you be willing to go to get this car? I mean, there are only a few out there.

uh, 100 miles.. thats about it, because my dad would have to go, and he won't take me that far, unless i take a bus or some public transportation...

Eh, thats unlikely. You could still get one with a few mods, but i doubt you are going to find a fully built one near you.
When its my time to finally get one, i will be flying out to pick it up and driving back. The drive home will be awesome.

haha, i see. so i'm guessin' lancer it is, because my dad wants me to be safe, you know, so he sais 120hp is fine, and it has a roll cage. but before i make my decision do you have anybetter cars besides the GSX??

Whats your budget?
It has a roll cage with being that slow????
To be honest man, 120 hp i dont think is safe. My girlfriend has a Toyota Corolla with a little more power than the Lancer, and it is scary because we can never over take cars on the highway. We have actually had people honking from behind us because they think we are deliberatly going slow, and they dont realize we are going flat out.

Dude for less you can get a bad ass GSX.
Ever think about a Miata? Low powered, 30+ mpg, decently quick (i drove one), SUPER fun to drive, really cheap... easy to turbo.
Dude you can pick one up for a couple grand, and turbo it...... dude that would be a bad ass car lol.

looks are big for me, and i don't like those small cars, they worry me, i know i'm VERY picky, haha. but its because i want to enjoy it and have it last for 5 years maybe. so miata are kinda out, hate mazdas' anyway, non reliable. also, i really am beginning to like those GSX, i see you love them. but any cons, you don't like about them, bad gass milage, or anything?! lol.

Well, they are kind of unreliable because people beat the **** out of them. Thats the only thing i dont like.
But if you find one that hasnt been beaten, and you change the oil and do the maintanance, it will serve you well.
Plus, the ones with the built motor and transmission can take a **** load of abuse.
Well the Miatas are actually really reliable. The only unreliable Mazdas are the rotary engines (the RX8 and the RX7). The rotary engine is totally different from a piston engine, and to tell you the truth i still dont entirely understand them.
The Miatas are actually pretty reliable, and they have amazing handling. Seriously, i have been to autocross events where they frequently beat Vettes round the track. My brother has a Lotus Elise, and i have driven both the Miata and the Elise, and to be honest...... i had more fun in the Miata lol. Shhh i didnt say that.
I guess if being really low down scares you, i can understand. Just dont drive like a dick! lol.

yeah, i don't like the miata, does it only come with a 2 seater, and also the GSX doesn't get that good of gas milage, how cheap can you find evo's and also, are there any other good makes out there besides mitsubishi??

Honda is good. I f-ing hate front wheel drive cars so i only like the S2000 lol.
The cheapest EVO i have seen so far was 16k with about 55k on it. To be honest, they are AWESOME value for money. One of the best handling cars out there. And because they have the same engine as the GSX, they are really easy to make power from. There is a member on here EMonz 57, that has a modded EVO, and he knows just about everything to do with them.
There is a lot out there. Im in love with the 2003-2004 Mustang Cobras... but they are pretty expensive lol. I just LOVE that sound. I would settle for a GT or something lol. But thats just me... i dont know if you would like the same thing. They suck on gas, they are hard to drive... and the noise from the exhaust would probably get annoying.
I also really lke the 2001 Audi S4's. They are a really sharp looking car, they are all wheel drive, and they are classy. The only major problem is that Audi dealierships are expensive. You can get them now for about 10k if you look hard enough.
Then you have the Subaru WRX. They are decently quick cars, fun to drive, all wheel drive, turbo etc. They are typically about 13k+. However, i HATE their engine configuration. They are sideways, not vertical, and they are not as strong as the EVO.
The gas mileage on the GSX is very dependant on how you drive it. I have gotten 30 miles to the gallon on the highway before doing 70mph (i used to live in England). When i started driving really hard, and running higher boost, that went down to like 15. But if i was cruising and taking it easy i could get 25+.
For about 11k you are pretty limited. I know what i would do, i would find a fully built GSX for about 7-8k, fly out there, and drive it back. Still having money left over lol. But thats me... and this is you lol

Oh, and turbo cars need premium, and ONLY premium!
Ever think about a 3000GT VR4? Twin turbo, pretty heavy, pretty reliable, pretty easy to make power from. Pretty fun to drive?

yeah, i really like the evo, but can only afford the OZ, is there any other trims of the lancer that are good?
Also, the Audi S4's, hmm i'll look into that, just comment this page though, its hard keepin track which one we are talking about, lol...

Gotcha!
Post your reply to my post in the other thread, in here. That way we keep it in one place.
Well, there really is no other trim of lancer lol. I dont like the Lancer anyay because its front wheel drive. Thats why i love the EVO, its all wheel drive and turbo.

let me refraise this for you, Really Heavy, kinda reliable, not easy to make power from, really fun to drive.
I know all of these from actually playing with one not reading from others

Come on man they are fairly easy to make power from

Well, they are hard to work on because of the V6 in the tight space, but the motor is capable.
