Hey guys, I'm an aussie girl who just brought a 2002 Limited Edition Lancer. It's pretty standard at the moment but I plan on doing a few mods to it later on down the track. Any idea's what would be good for a newbie? I'm probably going to go with a new exhaust, 16" & new tails lights for now...sorry if I sound lame at my descriptions but as I said I'm still learning!

definitely upgrade the exhaust. get bigger (2.25) inch piping and all stainless steel stuff. sounds ten times better than stock and gave me better gas mileage (i didnt ask for it, but hey, ill take it). 16's will look pretty good, but if your like me youll end up wishing you had gone bigger(i have 17 and want 18), but price plays a big part. also, depending on what size wheels you get and how good/bad the roads are, you might have to replace the tires more often. I live near Denver; we have horrible roads and i have to get new tires like every 20 or 30K miles. but i can say confidently that putting bigger wheels on a 02 lancer will make it look WAY nicer.

hey roxy, i suggest that u do performance mods before u do external mods, start with the basics like and exhaust system and muffler. then get a cold air intake. after that i suggest you turbo it with a blow-off valve. eventually you should get headers and then start customizing other things. another good but little performance part would be a short-throw shifter if its manual.  good luck. i wish i had that car.

I have had a 02 Lancer ES for about two years, but haven't had to do anything to it until it reached the 100k mark. Now the check engine light comes on. And I know what the maint schedule says. Change plugs, timing belt, etc. Well, I change the plugs with the same NGK BKR5E plugs. They are gapped at .44 like it says on the NGK site. Car manual says .39 to .43. I installed them and made sure I didn't pull on the wires and now it won't start. Any help would be appreciated.

Other than that, a nice car. Look.

WTF.... obviously you need to learn a little bit about cars.

First thing is first a cold air intake is no good after you go turbo,  a header is no good after you go turbo.  a BOV is alomst a garentee to be a part included with a turbo kit.

Put it this way a turbo requires a tubular manifold not a header so that is out of the question.  and the intake on a N\A car is totally different from an intake on a turbo.  basically if anyone ever plans to turbo a N\A car they should never buy a intake, exhaust, header because it will all most likly be no good if you add a turbo
