okay. i'm not getting no spark to my spark plugs. i've checked my timing, ECU, and PTU. and about to check my cam sensor. what else can i do?? could it actually be the coils. i heard that once those go out they kinda explode. could compression keep my spark plugs from sparking??

Pull a wire off of the spark plug end and position it near a grounded piece of the engine.  Then crank the engine while someone watches the end of the wire.  It it sparks blue, the ignition system is good.  If it sparks yellow or you get no spark, the ignition system is bad.  Make sure the wires are in good condition.

I know that your motor is a bit different than the 6g73 that I had, but the basics are or should be close, so here goes.
Power control module/whatever yours may be called or similar, ASD relay, Cam sensor, Crank sensor (or just one of them).  Those are parts of the motor that control spark, then of course theres the distributor or coilpack.  I'm relating those parts to my old 6g73 (even though that motor was more Chrysler than Mitsu where the 3kgt is opposite).  I don't know if that info will help, but it should get you close to your issue.
If you have a coilpack, those aren't a common issue because they are completely sealed tight..not saying that they won't or don't go bad.
Compression won't keep you from getting spark..it would be nice, but it doesn't.
Also, if you don't already have one, get a Haynes/Chiltons manual for your car.  It's a basic but comprehensive enough manual to get your car running again.
