So if you remember a month or so ago when I said my tranny was making a strange noise between gears, well.... its dead.
Driving down the road and I hear a loud pop. Its my axle snapping.
I get to the side of the road and look at it, not pretty.
Towed it to the dealer, and they called me a few hour later saying it has metal shavings all in the fluid.
We go back and forth for 15mins b/c they just flushed the tranny a month ago, and now it dies.
So, I got my extended warranty company involved and they cam out and looked, took their pictures, then called me the next day saying they were covering a new Tranny, axle, wheel hub, and all the labor.
All I have is a $100 deductible.
Blegh.
When its fixed, i'm getting rid of it and getting something brand new.
Either a new Lancer, a Mustang (ford guy at heart), or something with 4 doors for the family. lol

Damn that sucks bro! Just remember that it's not the car, it's the part(s) and previous owner and how it was treated by them.
I say wait for the new Lancer....you know you want it (judging by your other thread, lol). I see you're a Ford guy at heart but the only difference between a Stang and an Eclipse is the motor (to include drive orientation). You still don't have room in the back unless you have little kids to ride with you or midgets
Here's a little reminder...

So it popped while you were shifting or just randomly on its own while you were cruising? That does suck though guy, at least its not coming out of your pocket.

And I see the worst part of all this is my rental car, a damn chvy aveo.
Ugh.

that sucks dude!! so what exactly went? you say an axel but that's a simple 30 min fix and only 40 bucks as autozone, the way you were talking its definatly a trani problem.

The tranny had metal shavings all in the fluid.
The dealer replaced the trans, axle, and wheel hub.
got it back today, and it runs ok.
They did a good job IMO.
Buuuuuuuttttt..... i'm scheduled to drive a 2008 Lancer on April 4th. Thats the day they are getting them in.
I want a base Lancer (evo too much $$$) with the 2.0 mivec, a 5spd, cruise control, and the navi. system.
price $15,990.

Terrible to hear about the trans. dying... Though Josh is right, a Mustang prolly isnt the best way to go as far as family cars go, lol... anyone here ever notice how much the new Lancer looks like some sort of Mazda?

Yea, Id still drive one I suppose... more specifically Id drive a new Lancer WAYYYY before I drove a Mazda 6 (which, coincidently Ive heard are mostly Ford parts now anyway...)

i would take a Mazda 6 v6 5 speed over the new lancer. they look ok but i like the look of the 6's better. the base model price is 16k... for 18k you can get a used EVO VIII
