Okay, so my dad and I was changing the oil in my car and he told me he might have over tightened the oil cap because now it's loose, it won't loosen and it won't tighten, it just spins freely, left and right. He said he heard a pop when he tightened. It doesn't leak as far as i know, but for future maintenance this might be a problem. Anyone have a fix for this? how would I get this part out and why did it pop? TIA!

The pop was you breaking it.
Because the cap itself is 2 parts. One part has the sealing mechanism on it and the other is the plastic cap. You have detached the 2. You want to either break off the plastic cap and remove the sealing part wit ha plumbing wrench or something.

okay, so the following two images are from a junkyard nearby my house
this one is from a 1g eclipse
this is from some other car, i forget cause i was frustrated not finding any 2g's with motors
my dad says the one he broke looked like the second pic.
I went into the shop that was infront of the junkyard, told the cashier the specs of my car, and she hands me one that looks like the first one.
so what the hell is going on. anyway, i left the place and went back home, now wondering if i order from the dealership if they are going to give me one that's like the first pic. oy, im going to go insane with these two different mixmatched parts.

Then im not sure because i know the 1st one is for the 4g63, but i dont know what the 420a looks like. If you cant find a NT eclipse/talon then just look for a 95-99 Neon with a DOHC motor and that should have the same as your i believe

Edit: ahh, i see. alright, i will go rummage around and see if any neon's are at the junkyard then. hm. hopefully it'll work. thanks for the info!

grr. i see why this thing was so frikin crap. all plastic, and the sealing part is barely attached to the cap, i feel like i can break it when i hold the top (cap) and the bottom (sealer) and twist alittle. grr. such a crappy cap. anyway. got the cap finally. thanks for the replies.
