I had an old pontiac back in high school I let my sister borrow (my mom made me let her) She overheated 13 times (that's what my sister said, she said it stalled on her and smoked 13 times) before she got home and the first thing my mom did when the car pulled in was poor cold water in the radiator. How can you overheat that many times and not suspect something or stop and call home for a ride. That car was wasted, I had to poor water in it everytime I used it to drive a mile or so after that day. Cracked blocks are no fun.

I was headding home from a friends house in an area that i was unfamilar with and hit some train tracks going 40mph. Herd a loud bang, checked my oil press gauge watched it for a min and nothing happened so I coutinued to drive home. Parked the car at home, went inside for 20 min came back out and found this...

No when it slips... if its a bitch to get in reverse then it could be your syncros or somethin

I didn't notice until after I had my eclipse for about 2 months.. but when I was going to change my oil I noticed that one of the (2) previous owners bottomed it out or something because the oil pan was dented in and the exhaust pipe has some scratches on it. lol

When the synchronizer is moved along the main shaft, the cones act as a clutch. Upon touching the gear that is to be engaged, the main shaft is acceler- ated or slowed down until the speeds of the main shaft and gear are synchronized. This action occurs during partial movement of the shift lever. Com- pletion of lever movement then slides the sleeve and gear into complete engagement. This action can be readily understood by remembering that the hub of the sleeve slides on the splines of the main shaft to engage the cones; then the sleeve slides on the hub to engage the gears. As the synchronizer is slid against a gear, the gear is locked to the synchronizer and to the main shaft. Power can then be sent out of the transmission to the wheels.

oh, you let your friend borrow it and he messed it up. I didnt pay attention to your name, and i just figured you had a dsm by the title.

Because i know all dsm owners can relate to this, but in the 6 months ive owned my car, its been driveable and in correct operating order for about 1 of those months.....So ive been walking for a looong time.
