I have a 04 outlander. 27,000 miles. I noticed in the past several weeks the engine will hesitate when taking off from a stop sign or light. It normally happens once after it is started and almost up to temperature. As you depress the throttle the engine speed does not pick up and it will almost stall and then take off. After it has done it once it will not do it again until after it has sat for several hours. Anybody else experience this problem?

Wow.....I had this same type of problem with my Galant. I brought it in for a tune-up and it went away. I really don't know what it was. I could slam on the gas and it wouldn't go for a few seconds. Try going over all the basic things it could be and then I'd have it looked at just to be safe. Please let me know what happens.

is it throwing a code? even if not, it could still have something stored on the memory and depending on where you are at you could get it checked at your local autozone for free. on a side note, at you current mileage +-5k is when i put new spark plugs in, it wouldnt hurt to try but i dont want you to be chasing loose ends with fixes that dont work all the time.

I don't think I'd trust anything on my car for 100K miles, let alone a spark plug. But yes, they are supposed to be good for that long.
Hmmm, warrant item?lol....j/k.
What's the reccommendation from "those in the know" on a good plug, you know, the ones that give 20 extra horsepower...I'll be changing mine in a month or two, might as well start shopping. Oh yeah, I think I just blew a muffler bearing and steering wheel gasket. But at least I already got the major expense of replacing my rear leaf springs, a mechanic told me to.

Are you going to do it...or bring it somewhere?

I have yet to even look for the plugs on the car....lol. I hope they don't suck as much as the Monty's do to change, but I have that bad feeling. This is where you tell me I need to remove 54 items to get to a spark plug and need a 7" adapter with a swivel and magnetic socket to change them isn't it. I was hoping to change them myself.

Hahahaha.....I think it was a real bitch to get to the plugs (IMO) but you might find it easy. I'd bring it in if you can...save the headache for something else.

How difficult was your underdrive pulley to install?

Very easy...I had somebody do it. I like to watch and learn the first time.

Hmmm, I'm going to try to visit road race performance this weekend, I'll get the scoop from them, find out what they have for me. If only I had more money and more technical ability with these "hide all the parts and give no room to work on them" engines. I miss working on my Camaro....so much easier and cheaper.
