A little bit inspired (and bored) on sunday, so I thought I'd do an easy and cheap mod that I think looks pretty good (I call them Hi-Show for Lo-Dough mods lol)

It probably lends itself more toward the silver trimmed XLSs

Tools:

T-shirt covered flat-blade screwdriver (to remove trim ring)
Can of silver/aluminum spray paint

Cost:

Free since I had the paint, but saw it for 96 cents at Sprawl Mart

Process:

I just pried it off per the owner's manual and sprayed about 4 light coats of paint and let dry for several hours.

I didn't bother with primer or a clear coat after..but probably wouldn't be a bad idea..I just wanted to see what it looked like..I figured it would be easy enough to strip it or paint it black again

That looks great! I'm thinking of painting the front silver part black..and now this makes me want to even more. BTW...changing the DLRs is a pain!

Thanks everyone!

I noticed how much a PITA it is to change the DRLs...I'd hate to see the face of the first person that take theirs in and gets quoted $50 to change the bulbs.

The silver trim reminds me of the pics I saw of the concept vehicle...nice work!

But on the subject of changing the DRLs...why did you change them?  I'm looking into a few blue toned lights, Sylvania Cool Blue is one of them, but I'm not too sure how blue they really are or how they compare to the upper HIDs...after I find the "cheaper" blue lights, I have to then figure out how to wire them up.  Though I did find Japanese blue LED lights that run on 3 watts, if I read that correctly and I wonder if anyone knows what they really look like and they would work...ho hum...

Very nice....I wonder how it will look on the graphite gray pearl?

I didn't change the DRLs.  The removal of the trim was just the first step.  I have the HIDs, so they're DRLs and according to the manual and use 27watt 1156 bulbs..the non HID equipped vehicles have 55 W H11 bulbs.  I'm not sure why they do it this way, The only thing I can think of is that the DRLs for non-HIDs use the headlight bulbs and the HID bulb can't produce a lower light for use as a DRL
