ceramics dissipate the heat better then stainless.

The best brand is the one that is the cheapest and does its job. Don't look at the exhaust side of performance as a "company" vs "company". It will cause you to spend more money than needed. I suggest a 2.25 system that is madrel bent with possibly a highflow cat. You need some backpressure so a LARGE 2.5 or 3 inch system won't do much but rob you of TQ down low.

Find a car that sounds like what you want to sound like. Just ask the guy/girl what they have muffler wise. They will be more than happy to receive a compliment about thier exhaust.

Brands aren't as huge as most people make them out to be but it can make a differance in fit.

While I agree with the great fitament from the higher quality companies, I have to also put out there that I have installed a few that were "off" in some places. Some needed cutting, others needed hangers moved. ETC. ETC.
This is with the turbo models though.
Also think about how many of us out there have been all over the exhaust market. Most EVERYone I know is offbrand. I have had just as many issues with them. Just at a FRACTION of the cost, lol. :/

One brand that in my experience has always fit perfect is flowmaster, but they're def not our kind of company, nor would I put one of their mufflers on an eclipse. I bought an off brand xpipe for my stang and it was a real pain to get in, it was a little off when I compared it to the stock hpipe but I did eventually get it in.

I am running a 3" VRS (Florida Company) Turbo-Back with o2 eliminator. The muffler that comes with the exhaust is MAGNAFLO. Sounds great and looks decent. It is a 3inlet 3outlet muffler so the grapefruit shooter is not really all that apparent. I like it alot better than most of those 3"inlet 4"outlet mufflers. Not my style.

I found their website after you mentioned them in another post and they seem like a nice company. I do like magnaflow a lot and their turbo back is tempting, I may look into that a little more when spring rolls around.

I suggest a turbo back, but NOT the o2 eliminator.
For the effort of oil changes and such I suggest a nicely ported 2.5" o2 housing and then a turbo-back from VRS.

Should I look into getting an o2 housing or just work on my own?

If you can port it out pretty nice, go for it. Many people run a ported 2G o2 housing.
If you mess up or think you want something bigger Punishment racing has some nice 2.5" o2 housings.

I'm sure I'd be fine porting it and I'm fairly cheap so that's probably what I'd do. Good to know all of this now though so when spring/summer comes I can get some stuff done.
