pcv filter?

okay so i believe its the pcv thats comes out of the top end. i was just wondering if i  take the normal vacuum tubing off is it okay to just swap in a smaller air filter that i have seen? i hope this isnt to newbish of a question i would imagine i would be okay to just place the small filter on it. the reason im wondering is my tubing is just old and should be replaced just hoping you guys could help. or should i just replace it with new lines? hmmm

I think you may be confusing things here. The PCV Valve is located on the back of the valve cover seen here

It is not a filter but a valve. You may be confusing it with the breather shown here
http://members.shaw.ca/dsm.1000q/Engineprimer/2G/breatherhose.htm
 
If thats what you are talking about then yes you can simply replace it with just a filter as shown in the bottom picture

well the link with the breather was the location i was talking about but i was thinking i could just use like a lil air filter like jp had on his montero. i think ive seen them on somes 2g here too.

Yeah you can, I just have a little filter on mine and it works great.

i thought it might of been your car dorian. so its just air coming out the top right? this wont cause perfomance issues will it? i wouldnt think so, but it wouldnt be the first time i was wrong.

like i said atown, if you look in the bottom picture on the breather link, youll see they say you can just put a filter on it. Alot of people do that
