I have Eclipse, not sure which year (5-7years old). I have removed the radio from the car for service, left it unpowered for 2 days and now it is asking for a code in order to power it up. I understand it is the antitheft feature that radio has, so if anyone knows how to unlock my radio, please help me out or I will have to buy another one...

Just for the information, it's serial number is 6Z16A396D and the label had the following information:

Mitsubishi MR225579, RX-2U65CWYM-1, 3490119

I don't know about your car but my owners manual had the security code in it. Mines a 2000 though so I'm not sure if yours does. Check it.

I called my nearest mitsu dealer, they told me that I need to stop by, show them vehicle registration, radio's serial number and they will look it up in their computer database for $20. They told me that I will not find the code in the manual, that it comes on a little card that I don't have, since it is a used car. That sucks, It is their car, why charge extra money your own customers? The customer service as minor as that should be free.

Yeah mine had the stupid little card too, but it also said it in the manual. I'd bitch about having to pay for it because it isnt ur fault that you didnt get the card or know the code, thats something that they should've told you. I'd just get an aftermarket radio...they're much better anyway. If ur gonna spend the moeny spend it on something that will last and you wont get charged to fix it.

go aftermarket.  and don't worry about the service guys, cause everytime I go in for something its like getting bent over.  I found a mechanic that is strictly DSM, does a wonderful job and charges WAY less.  don't know about where you are, but Im in Omaha, NE and service alone is $84/hour.  talk about rape... but yeah, listen to xXEcLipse GTXx cause aftermarket is what you will want eventually anyway, just go out and do it right, you won't have to worry about that OEM stuff anymore.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, I found the code in my manual (it has been handwritten inside). I am located in Miami, Florida. I would go aftermarket anyway, because the radio didnot have a CD player. The only thing about installing aftermarket radio is that I will have to figure out which wire is for which speaker, power and ignition switch and undo the factory radio socket. And in case something goes wrong you can always get a refund.

Once again Thanks to everyone for the help, problem solved...
