Ive heard some people say that without an aftermarket exhaust, headers are worthless. How true of a statement is this?

The headers scavenge the exhaust gases faster and better than the stock manifold. Your stock exhaust will be a bottleneck IMO. You get the exhaust quickly out of the engine and then it hits the stock cat and it's like a roadblock from there. Then it flows to your resonator, then to your stock muffler. Personally, I wouldn't do a header without modding at least the cat and muffler- better to do it all at once and save a bit of time, money, and labor.

one of the bad side effect of running a header with the stock exhaust is that it sounds terrible. Well that is the only thing bad I can really think of. Lol
