I heard they were made in China. For that reason i raise the question of quality control. That is where they save their money. I could be wrong.

I have my firsthand experience with this turbo. First off it is a knockoff of the MHI Evo3 GT. It is made with bad seals and they are known to blow very quickly under low boost. It is in no way affiliated with MHI and is a cheap chinese knockoff.
My case: I ran this turbo for 5k miles on 15psi. I noticed it was smoking a good bit. Pulled off the intake, checked the shaft. Sure enough, that thing was done for. There was oil all in the compressor housing and it had shaft play like crazy.
Case #2: A guy on our local board had this turbo as well. He ran it for 4k miles at 16psi and it blew on him the same way mine blew on me.
Moral of the story: Spend the few extra bucks and pick up the REAL MHI Evo3 16g. It cant be beat as far as 16g's come. It is an amazing turbo. You know I run it, and I would not choose any other turbo (for the money) for daily driving. Fast spool, lots of power, capable of pushing upwards of 400hp. Its worth it to spend the extra to get the real deal.

My buddy has one right now. They are a knock off, but by no means are ALL of them crap. There are companies out there that remake their GTs and make them better. I've read both good and bad, and most say that it's just made really crappy, and then you have the ones that say that they don't have any problems with them. I think it has a lot to do with how most folks run their cars and how their cars are running, really. For any turbo, if it's well supported and you have a strong running motor....there shouldn't be any worries.
It's a different story when you talk about abuse and how some turbos can handle the worst abuser and how some can't
Just my point of view.

Well, i have talked to the seller and supposebly he had it rebuilt by Extrememotorsports.com. And currently has 400 miles. Its already off. So it only has 400 miles.

Mine was on my car when I bought it. The motor had just been rebuilt. He used a 14b for the first 1500 miles after the rebuild, then put this turbo on. I had a full 3'' exhaust, walbro255 high pressure, and 550's with it with an safc2. Id say thats a healthy motor and it was well supported

. Plus it never saw more than 16 psi.
I just think its well worth it to spend the few extra dollars and get the MHI Evo3 16g. Your getting what you know is the real deal, and its a proven awesome turbo. I have never heard one bad thing about that turbo. Its not hit or miss like the GT is.

I think we already knew they were knock offs.....
I don't think anyone said they were MHI turbos. The question was what we thought of them, lol.
Thanks for the link btw

Yeah, I understand that. Thats just proof that they were pieces of crap turbo's, straight from the horse's mouth.
