I'm picking up my gs-t on monday and want to start trying to figure out what kind of mods i want to make to it. In all honesty i dont know all that much about working on cars yet. What is the best way to figure out what kind of mods would be good to put on my car based on what i want out of it?

First of all what do you want out of it?

I want to do as much to it as possible over time as i save up the money while still being able to drive it daily. It will be my only means of transportation so i dont want to have it fixed up so much where its to costly to maintain and drive daily.

well. theres 2 ways in my eyes.

and i was in your same position.

become a ricer, or go all motor.

if your looking for attention and every cop in the neighborhood to know who you are, you can dress up your car with some make up and a skirt to make it look nice like that car enthusiast degrating movie fast and the furious / red line.

or, make your car last longer by replacing old parts and maintaining it.

kinda hard to explain.

but i just bought an eclipse gsx with plans of restoring it as if it just came out of the factory. with a few upgrades of course.

I will do some cosmetic work to it eventually, but the only cosmetics i plan on anytime soon are just some better looking rims then what are on it now. Mainly i'm more interested in performance upgrades. I've thought about starting with just exhaust and intake. I want an exhuast system that will work for when i eventually upgrade the turbo. I dont want one though thats overly loud and will really stand out to the cops. I've also though about sway bars. Do these seem like good begging mods or should i go a different route? Also what about port and polishing?

Oh forgot to mention, around home i'll be driving around a lot of curvy roads, and at college there will be a lot of traffic, so i want to make some mods to make it handle really well.

for exhuast you could go with an apexi n1 catback system. that will give a nice deep tone. Also for  suspension you can get a nice set of lowering springs and shocks, or go allittle more expensive and get a full coilover set which will run around 1k.

I'm definitely gonna do the apexi n1 and am looking to see what kind of intake i want, i've also been looking at getting a boost controller and a boost gauge, i've heard thats safe to do on a stock gs-t as long as i dont exceed 16psi, is this correct? is there anything else i would need to mod to do this?
