Ya know yesterday when I was changing the oil in my 07 xls, I noticed that on the ram-air pipe that enters the grill area, it has a long, pipe that extends over to the left side of the engine bay, in between the grill and radiator support, it only has one small slit in it to allow air to entire this piping.
I wonder if it would be possible, to remove this, cut the entire front of it out, so that it would allow more air to entire the engine.
I am sure its possible, just wonder if it would help any?
any thoughts guys
I think you could if you gut the front of it...

I too would love to wait, but in the meantime...
besides, I love to tinker, and if something is not put together the way I think it should be, then i just have to "fix" it

I'm wondering if Mitsubishi put that blocking door inplace to keep water from having a straight shot into the intake tract? Might be a bad thing to remove if you live in a wet weather area.
Just my .02 cents

The less obstruction for cool air the better. As for concerns of rain hydrolocking the motor...it will take a lot of droplets to hydrolock a hot motor. You have to literally cool the chambers down enough and put out the fire, that's a lot of fluid. A cup can do it, but that's a cup of fluid all at once.
If that is really a big concern, you can always cut off part of the silencer that is located in a protected area or just cut out the back part that faces the radiator. Better yet, cut the entire silencer off where it enters the grill area.
