I read here
http://www.allpar.com/eek/atf.html a way to flush out your ATF. It seems less agressive than bringing to a shop.. less expensive too.
Basically.. drain the pan, add new fluid to the right level.. remove the line from the tranny to the cooler and run it to a container.. start the car, put it in drive.. and let the fluid drain until you see the new pink fluid... turn off the car .. fill to the appropriate level..
Does this sound dangerous.. or not good enough? ... Your thoughts please.

you can drain your fluid by yourself but its alot better at a shop because they actualy flush it. All you do is change the fluids, but some gunk and debris may remain in there. With the flush it gets everything. Not saying its a bad idea to do it yourself though. If your confident enough then by all means go for it

It's not like the way I found is rocket science.. I'm confident of that.. I just didn't know if doing it that way could somehow cause harm to the transmission? ...

I would just drain all of the fluid, replace all of the fluid, drive it around a bit, drain the fluid again, and fill it back up with new fluid.
