I've never had one beforen but from what i've heardn it's alot of fun. But speaking from an economical standpoint, is it expensive (including install), and is it a pain in the ass for every day street driving?

I would like to get a short shifter for my eclipse. I hate the long shifter. A shorter one would mean my arm could be mroe relaxed and be easyer to drive... Its not a pain in the ass at all

ive installed a short throw shifter on my 98 gs and its relatively simple if you have basic knowledge of how to use basic hand tools you can do it your self in about 45 minutes to an hour i baught my short throw off ebay for a total of like 50 bucks or so i baught another one just recently for my new dsm addition 99 gsx i think i paid 45 dollars for that one shipped basically it is just about getting to it start taking the center colum out be careful things will break if you go fast just take your time

Is it seriously easy to install? Can you do it yourself? Do you recommend having it done by a professional? Also, which short shifters do you guys recommend?

Well if you have a dsm vfaq.com tell you how to install a short shifter. As for type, personal prefernce is key. Different companies have different styles.

Just because the percentage rate of the shift is lower, is it really more fun?, (to those of you with them?)
