Hey guys,
Summer is coming up, and I'm dying to get a boat . I'm thinking about a bowrider and the smallest I can find is between 15 or 17 feet. I guess the weight with trailer be close to 1,800 pounds. Could I tow the boat for 20 miles every weekend?
(P.S: No cash for a truck)

hmm... either way i dont think those make enough torque or power to be able to tow that much weight... but they are fairly easy to put a turbo on... do some research on that

would there be a way to mount a hitch on an eclipse?

i doubt it could make enough HP to pull it. i know your post said you have no money for a truck, but i think the only way would be to get an old beater truck and use that. unless you have a buddy with a truck that doesnt mind lending it to you every weekend

yeah... these engines are built for lightweights... pulling a boat pretty sure would be stressing it out a lil bit haha

you'd have to get a hitch specially welded on, i've seen people do it before

you can tow it iff your going downhill the whole time. but on the way back, you might run into a problem. the 4g64 in my car could barely pull my car up a hill in 2nd if there were more then 3 people in the car

ya the eclipses dont have very much torque. you would be better off with a montero lol

he shouldnt do it, it'd be a waste of money. he wont be able to pull it and it'll just put a lot of unecessary wear on the car

yeah but you know how some people are, they'll do it even after the world telling them no.

it'll do  a work on his clutch, transmission, his engine, suspension, it'd be absolutely stupid to do it
