ok so i have a 1996 talon esi and i bought a 5 inch autogage tachometter with shift light from autometer...what confuses me is i havent found the wire that u tap into for the actual tachometer reading....it has been said to be on the coil but i tried 2 wires on the coil and both of them got me a reading but when i reved the engine and the needle only goes up to 2000 rpms and like like twitches at idle...can someone please show me the proper wire to tap into....i am so lost...and im sort of a beginner with this performance stuff.....thank you

you probably won't find many if any people on here w/ an aftermarket tach. . .

you have to find the rpm wire comming out of the ECU. There are a few different pinouts but the wire color is always the same. It should be a white wire with brown squares on the ecu (which is located in the front driver side in the engine bay) Just splice it in there. Sometimes on some models the wire may be a solid white but check for the brown squares first

just out of curiosity, why do you like, have, an aftermarket tach? they don't make you faster, and they don't make you look cooler... just wondering.
