How little is it catching? Is it like its just barly touching the teeth and rounding then off or is it only touching halve of the tooth from side to side? Who is installing these parts? Have they ever done this before? Not trying to offend anyone but i know sometimes it can be hard to line up the starter just right. Expecially if you have no help.

hmm..it definately sounds like either the installation is wrong, or you have something bent/misaligned which is causing the flywheel to not make good contact with the starter. has the car been wrecked or anything? and are you using OEM parts?
