Hey all, new here and a new proud owner of a '07 ES. I have a few Q's for you fellow Outie owners. The Tire Pressure Sensors on the stock wheels, can they be moved to new alloy wheels or do I need to buy a new set of TPS's? Also, has anyone here installed aftermarket fog lights in the provided airdam holes?

Rob

I believe you need to buy a new TPMS for the new wheels and have them installed. Most places can do this for you, so you DON'T have to go to the dealer.

I don't know about the fog lights, as mine came with them, but Mitsu offers OEM fog lights for the easiest install.

I figured you just might as well transfer the old TPMS to the new wheels when you can, because you'll get a nagging error if you get new sensors without registering it into the system's computer. Save yourself time and money going to the dealer to do the reprogramming.

If you buy the wheels from the Tire Rack (only place recommended by Mitsu) then you can reuse your TPS.  My dealer ordered a set of wheels from tirerack.com with their TPS's and they where the same part numbers as the ones in the Outlander.  Also if you ever need a TPS, buy it from Tire Rack.  The same part no. for a cheaper price.

Anyone know if there is a way to turn off the tpms completely.  I don't want to have to have a dealer charge every spring and fall when I install my winter/summer wheels and tires.  I know tpms is becoming manditory in the US, but I don't need the "tire nanny" and it's not manditory here in Canada.

I will be interested to know the answer to because I'm planning on buying 4 new sensor with 16'' winter wheels for my XLS and don't want to go every winter/summer to have the dealer reprogram the sensor !

Some reading material on TPMS for those interested  CheckMyTires.com.  I know it doesn't help the O.P. turn the warning off, but it is good information.

I am in Canada (Gatineau)

I will be getting a set of 17" with Nokian Hakka 5 studded for winter...and I talked with the guy selling me those, he said to wait for next year for the sensors...since it is going to be on all new cars,  the sensors should get a lot cheaper next year.  I will follow his advice and endure the flashing light for this winter...

hi Roach,

I am getting my wheels from Goldwing autocare in Ottawa...I wanted Nokian tires studded because I loved them on my WRX  (not a lot of people sell  them).

so I got 225-60-17 tires with a cheap set of RTX Plutonnium mag wheels (hope they look well in reality) , the mag are not expensive but the tires are !  But I knew that.

cheers!

I just drop off my XLS this morning at my dealer here in Canada and I ask them if I buy new tpms and put them on winter wheels what I would need to do they say that every time I will take my summer tire off or my winter tire off I would need to go to the dealer and they will need to reset the computer and they said that it was 45$ or more and he added that if I buy mitsu tpms it does not mean that It will fit on other wheels properly because the mitsu one are really big. So I ask him if I use steel winter wheel without sensor and he said that the only thing It will do there's a Solid light that will appear in the dash and that's it nothing more So I'm wondering what I should do about that it's just sad that it's that complicated and they told me that they can't disable the tpms option in the computer to.
