Just to start I'm new to this car.  I usually work on trucks.  I just bought a 95 eclipse gst 166,000 miles, auto trans.  I have 3 issues that need some advise on.

1.  The front end makes a thumping noise randomly after a bump.  I pulled the front wheels and check out everything and the only thing i noticed is that the bushings for the sway bar and worn, and theres a tiny bit of play in the rack..  Maybe the struts are bad though?

2.  The check engine light is on and the code is P0505 Idle air control system, the car idles high (1100rpm) and fluxuates.  I did some research on google and people say to start with changing the idle speed controller (ISC).  Is that a good place to start?

3.  When you push the pedal (moving) to the floor it feels like the motor is breaking up and jerking.  It idles ok and i checked the plugs and the turbo and they seem to be in good shape.  I read in the repair manual and it says something about the fuel filter being clogged.

Any advise to get me started would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

1.Try replacing your sway bar bushings and check your links if they have any play.

2.Replace your isc motor

3.Is it misfiring?  Try a tune up and replace your filters.

Exactly what dsm1990gsx said, only replace the plugs with NGK classics and some Mitsubishi factory spark plug wires.

Ok so I swapped out the fuel filter, changed the plugs and wires... The old plugs were ok looking but the gap was way off.  Anyway it it drives alot better now.  No breaking up and the tranny is shifting smoother.  I still have to work on the front end.  Also I turned the idle down on the throttle body and since a couple days ago the check engine light hasn't come back on.  So I guess i'll wait and see what happens before i find a new iac.

Make sure you check the timing w/ a timing light and make sure all that is fine too.
