I was driving my girlfreinds eclipse cruising at about 40 mph when the engine just shut off.  it didnt hesitate or sputter and had no problems previously.  I think all the electrical is fine, it turns over no problem but still wont start.  I think it could be the fuel pump or the ecm pump controller.  If anyone has had this problem or knows what it could be please tell me any and all info, needs to be fixed soon as possible.

Actually i just got done going through the entire fuel system and its fine, then i checked for spark and there is nothin.  probly should have done that first but i figured it was fuel.  I replaced the distributer cap and rotor and still have no spark.  any ideas?

maybe just a suggestion. I know honda's have it but you can try and ask. There is a relay underneath your dash, its called (main relay) it controlls most of the fuel spark function in your car . try that, cool

have you tried your coil. I remember I had a problem for a while and it turned out to be my coil going bad.

Have not tried the coil yet, but its next thanks.  And for all those who seem to have never seen another eclipse but there own, yes some do have a distributer.  Read a little about the cars before you post. I dont even own one and could tell you that.

WHat's up, no one has suggested that maybe your POWER TRANSISTOR has gone bad. This unit takes signal from your distributor and sends voltage to the ignition coil to provide spark at plugs. It can be checked with an analogue volt meter (needle type meter). If you don't have a manual with the procedure to check this out I can get the info from the factory service manual for you.
