Come on AlZ what 4cyl that was designed around the same time as the 6G72 was better? You cant compare to the modern ones because thats not comparing apples to apples

so what makes the 72 such a great engine?
Sebba

Able to handle a shat load of boost on stock internals. I know people pushing like 650

maybe you have the sohc...well imo i think that fact that you can push soo much power out of a 3 litre v6 is something....pluss you can get up to some serious hp humbers on stock block. as well as the fact that they are pretty spiffy in stock form.

worlds fastest 6g72=Chris hills 3000gt vr-4....9.2 at 161mph still on 3 litres.

Yet the 4G63 record is 7.70 on 2 liters lol

I don't know when the 72 was first built. I have one, it's not a bad engine...it's just not a great engine. Like everything mitsu makes, it's got it's ups and downs. This doesn't make me less of a mitsu fan. Personally, I like them because...at least the old ones were designed with mechanics in mind.

They where designed like in the late 80s... that aint bad if you ask me

well in that case every car company has there ups and downs...thats just how it goes...

also i might add the NA dohc 6g72's are some reliably sons a bitches

seen em go up to 200-300 thousand miles easy.

I'll agree it's a good block. I do have the SOHC...and it's a mediocre head.

One of the things that makes mitsu so great is it's versatility and the ease with which you can upgrade.

all right, all right, I'll accept this beat down.

I'm pretty surprised that you defend the DOHC. I would steer away from it just on the principle that it has to be a pita to maintain.
