My stock 2000 Eclipse RT Vs a Stock 2001 Celica? Im a damn good driver (shiftwise) he's not that great but not bad. I have a really nice 1/4 mi. strip im used to so im gonna race him there. I have a tendancy to step up to plate w/o a bat. I talked some **** and called him out now i gotta race? will I be ok?

First of all what is a eclipse RT??? if you mean a GT than u have a 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine 210hp stock. the Celica features a 1.8L four-cylinder engine, which generates 180 horsepower in the GT-S trim. U do the math and good luck don't let toyota beat the DSM.

I am going to say yes, better take some race prep before hand, remove spare, remove air filter. stuff like that.

It would be a really close race. Here are the times for both cars. You didn't specify what kind of Celica so I put both models in...keep in mind these are stock times and because they're pretty close depending on which model Celica he has it will depend on the driver.

2001 Celica GT
0-60: 8.5
Quarter Mile: 16.4

2001 Celica GTS
0-60: 6.6
Quarter Mile: 15.2

2000 Eclipse GT
0-60: 7.0
Quarter Mile: 15.4

Those times are for profesional drivers that can shift with out using the clutch and know exactly how to get the best 60 for for a car. The winner will be the better driver hands down. I beat a kid with a 94 stang gt(thats the 5.0 liter motor year) and I got him by almost a car length because the poor kid couldent drive. If it were professional drivers driving my car would run a 16.5 and the stang would have gone a 14.9.

Well, think about what you said for a second. Neither of them are "professional drivers" so both times drop correspondingly and therefore still have the same gap between the times. I understand if one of them misses a shift it could be over though.

2000 eclipse GTs are faster than 15.4s I know from experience they will go as afast as 14.9s the 01-02s are 15.4ish and the GTS 2003-2005 are 14.9-15.2s

The Eclipse will win from a roll easy TQ owns from a roll that VVT wont do anything for a little while and even then it wont wrap up as quick as a V6

the Celica is ALOT lighter though.

Celica = ~2400lbs
Eclipse GT = ~3300lbs.

It's not always about power....it's about the power/weight ratio.

So, if it's a GT Celica, then you will win. If it is a GTS Celica, then it will be very close.
