well i just tried to start my car and it wont turn over. when i put the key in i cant get it to move at all. its an automatic talon esi.

would this happen from the transmission going out?

the only thing i can think is that it stormed here last night and i had my windows cracked for a little bit of the storm. other than that i know my transmission is going out.

i dont think the trans going out would cause this but could the car have slid in any dirrection cus my jeep did something simmilar so i jacked it up and it turned over right away, i think the flywheel got jambed or soemthing. try that it might work but not 100% sure just a guess

well i didnt have a jack so i just pushed the car back and forth then just tried to move the steering wheel and hit the brake and anything else possible to start it and i got it to start. idk what is wrong with it.

i hate automatics......

My guess on this would be the ignition switch (cylinder and key).  If the witch goes out then the key could become stuck.  maybe there is something jammed into where you turn your key.  Just a quick thought.

ive nvr herd of them just doing it then not but its good that it strted. but i would check out that starter just in case something is wrong. if the solinoid is going out it could be working sometimes then not other times. my car did it a few times. when it got hot it wouldnt start but that was mine and yours could b different. i did it for a reason so just dont look the other way on this something i probly wrong somewhere. just my opinion take it or leave it

Make sure your connections are good on the battery..  Almost like your ground wire may not be getting a good connection.

well when we first got the car my dad was driving it for a while and he said it didnt start one time so he left it in a parking lot and then when he came back and tried to start it, it worked. i think that was because of the starter. it has rust on it  alot of things on my car are rusted......

sometimes it wont start up on the first try, i press the gas a little when i start it now to make sure it starts so im pretty sure the starter is going out.  i just hope it lasts till i get me a 4g63

oh and i believe the transmission is going out as well. (its an automatic) after i accelerate and then let off it jerks the car a little bit.  plus one time when i was going down the highway it never shifted so i was going like 55 mph at 5k rpms.

if the car is turning over but not starting then its not the starter. It could just be something as simple as needing new spark plugs or something along those lines

well we replaced the spark plugs. what else could it be?
