Hi,

I just got a used 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Spyder and the speakers in it are aweful so I am thinking of changing them. I have one question about the speakers - could anyone tell me what size speakers I should look for that will fit my car. I went to Best Buy today but there are so many different sizes. Could you recommend what size I should pick?

the rear are 6x9's and the front are somewhere between 6 and 7". The actual screw holes are 7 inches between the diagonal ones (top right to bottom left...) Check out crutchfield.com, they will tell you what will fit and they even provide free adapter brackets so you can use slightly different sizes.

hmmm, well mine on my GST are 6x9's in the rear, maybe they're differnet between years and/or models. The fronts in mine are 6 3/4" rounds.

I'm pretty sure the 6x9's came with the infinity system, if you don't have that then you should have rounds in the back.

i've never seen a 2nd gen eclipse with round in rear, but i heard it's easy to convert, and plus some say round speakers sound better. i'm big into audio quality, but i've never done a comparison.

i have a 99 gs 10th edition and i have round in the back also, they are the same size as in the front. i bought 6 1/2 full range RF for the rear but i had to drill new holes into the holder because i couldn't find ANY speaker that had the right holes. and then in the front i went with a Planet Audio components system 6 1/2'' mids, and 1 1/2'' tweets. however i had to modify the speaker holder in the front a lot to allow for the connections to work, so the answer to your question is 6 1/2 in te back and either 6'' or 5 3/4 in the front.
