You won't be able to put the 6g72 into your engine bay, you will only be able to use parts of the 6g72 3.0L along with parts of the 6g73 2.5L. So, you will be doing a swap within a swap. The 2g Eclipse is not that much lighter than the Avenger and the V6 is not indestructable.
But if you are really insistant on "downgrading" then I can help you out...not willingly, lol, but I will.
You're better off swapping in a 4g63t. Neither of the swaps are plug and play.
A complete 6g72 3.0L is putting out somewhere around 200hp to the crank. I want to remind you that the complete 3.0L motor will not fit in your engine bay and you would need a 2000+ ECU and the complete motor to make that crank hp.
The 3rd gen Eclipse has a longer engine bay, remember!

So it would be best to drop a Avenger motor in it?

Lol, no sir. I took mine out in favor of the 4g63, lol. I was sick of waiting a day to pass big rigs on the interstates and it was embarrassing watching my speedo go from 70mph to 60mph all the while hearing the 2.5L V6 struggle, while slowing down, to hold off at 60mph going up hills.

What are your goals. I understand that you have replaced 2 and going on 3 4 cylinder motors...why? What are you doing to have to do this? Are you trying to race you Spyder? Your car weighs as much as a GSX, but without the power and AWD.

if you want to put anything in there besides the stock motor your gonna have some work ahead of you. Like custom motor mounts and fabrication of the engine bay to get them to fit. Id say stick with the 420a. BTW what is wrong with the motor you have now?

NEWB!! hahahaha.

The 4G64 NT Spyder can swap the AWD drivetrain components in too. so you could essencailly have a GSX spyder
