VSS=Valve Stem Seal's.  You can replace just the seals or do a full valve job depending on the age and resultant wear of your vehicle.

Can be done w/out removing the heads buy using the rope trick or LP air trick.

How much did you spend on doing this if i may ask? Did you do it yourself or did you let the dealer do it? I am just curious.

i did it myself i bought one of those tools for overhead motors but their spring compressing tool sucked so i made one to work with the tool and it went real smooth i had the seals and a head gasket set when i removed the intake the center gasket had been replaced before but they missed the 2 rear ports and the butterfly shaft had a massive vacuum leak on the front of the manifold so i made a insert out of polyurethane and fixed the vacuum leak the truck would smoke when i came to a stop and when leaving a stop it smoked so bad i thought it was rings it has 190,000 miles on it but i did a compression test and all 6 holes were 8lbs within each other and after reading on the 3000gt boards  mitsubishi has weak valve seals so after changing  all 24 the smoke and burnt oil smell is gone.......... so if anybody wants to rent the tool $80.00 deposit and $25.00 rental mxmikie@yahoo.com

i bought a head gasket set on ebay for $40.00 and changed them in a weekend i used compressed air the tool i bought has all the fittings the tough part is getting the old seals off the valve guide there is very little room to grab them
