I have a slightly different scenario at hand. I'm planning on taking my wife on a romantic tailgate picknic to the beach this after noon, and driving the car into the sand, I'm nervous as to how its going to perform. I will keep you guys posted later on how it did.

Did you say sand? Its 35 now and going down to 24 tonight. Anyway good luck with the date. You could put the tailgate lower half down and have a nice place to relax, maybe a blanket down to softened the padding.

antlip, I am going to agree with you here. I drove mine on some nice icy roads, and felt totally secure. Took it up my folks driveway which is fairly steep, Granted it went into traction mode alot, but it made it up, even after a complete stop.
I agree as well with everyone else on this to a degree. The stock tires suck, and are not even fit for burning.
However I would never buy anything again with the yokohama name on them. YOKO"S suck. period. always have, always will.
My money will forever go to bridgestone.

I'm pleased to be reading that the Outlander does well in snow & ice. That's very important to me as I'm a skier and am looking for a new vehicle to take into the mountains.

Question for all of you: What kind of speeds have you driven you Outland at on snow and ice? And how does the Outlander compare to other vehicles you have driven in similar conditions?

Whats up with the yokohama tire talk? Everyone keeps saying they have these tires and they suck in the snow. I just went out to my car and I have good year eagle ls 2 tires. I guess I lucked out? I can say these tires are awesome.

because yoko just plain sucks, period.
Cant explain what exactly makes them so bad, but they are.
Like I said, bridgestone will foever get my money.
Also, I have had awsome success with the kumho hp series. they are phenomenol in the snow. and ice

heres the link, they are the kumho ecsta hp4 716. I dont know if they are available in the 18 inch size I need, but they are good none the less

did you get the xls?
if not, you most likely just got a diffent set.
I got the goodyears on mine, and they are horrible.
oh well, cant have it all
