Wiring amp to stock radio?

Arcy -> Wiring amp to stock radio? (12/18/2006 8:37:36 PM)

Ok, first off I hope this is the right place to post this. Now for my question, I'm installing an amp and subs for a freind of mine into his '01 Eclipse with a stock Infinity stereo, my question is does the stock head unit have the nessacary RCA outputs for an amp, and if not is there a work around, or is he better off just getting a new head unit?

I can't say if your friend has RCA outputs but if he doesn't you can take splice the wires running to his rear speakers into the high input on the amplifier, most have them, and you can have it that way. I don't reccomend it but it does work. It won't sound as good as RCA's but it works. Even if his stock system does have RCA's I would always reccomend going with an aftermarket headunit, unless he's going for a clean stock look.

He needs to get an aftermarket head unit anyway because it will sound soooooooo much better and clearer than the factory unit.  I have about $5000 into my system and piss around with it when necessary plus compete in Db drags once ina while too so I know.  I think the factory unit will only have the RCA's necessary for the factory amp hookup...I say pull that **** out and get a decent Pioneer head unit or something like that.

Best bets is to get a new head unit. I would say get an Eclipse head unit or Panasonic and get tsunami RCA's
