ok,
#1 so my fourwheel drive will engage but the light doesnt come on and the front hubs aren't locking into place.

#2 my anti lock brake light came on in dash, but my brakes are working fine.

anyone got any answers before i take it to the shop?

both are probably related to the same common failure, which is a sticking 4wd switch on top of the transfer case.
Sometimes, shifting in and out of 4wd many, MANY times (100-200) may loosen the switch contact so that it works again.
sometimes, you're gonna need to replace a switch or two.

There are multiple switches on top of the transfer case that are tripped when you're in gear.

ok, what would you reccomend on how to replace them and such as far as ordering, just order them all? or what?

Like anything else...
1) test to ensure what's actually bad
2) order & replace.

In the case of these switches, if they are indeed bad, you may have to drop your xcase a bit to get to them.  They simply unscrew from the top.  Don't forget to check that the wire connections are good as part of step 1 above.

there are 3 switches.


seriously, try shifting (in nuetral, not moving) in and out of 4WD a couple hundred times.  It may tire your arm out, but it works 90 percent of the time.

thanks a ton guys, im gonna try this tomorrow, just in case i do have to replace one or all of them do you know the proper name or number of the switches?
