94 Mitsu Eclipse -> RE: Rear main seal / '93 Eclipse (11/23/2004 12:30:07 AM)

You can do it yourself if you have just some regular hand tools, jack, and jackstands. I did it on my 94 eclipse 1.8 auto about a month ago. You could easily do it within a weekend or even a day if you work on it constantly. It took me two days to do it, but hours-wise it was only about 4 hours total work. I spent most of that time away from actually working on it trying to find something with a big enough diameter to knock the rear seal in straight. I found a 3" piece of pvc pipe cap that fit it just perfect inside and outside diameter. It was big enough to fit over the end of the crank and small enough to fit the outside diameter of the seal itself. Go ahead and try it yourself, there's nothing really hard about it. Richard
